George Logan: Pride Before the Fall - 3 February 2021
George Logan talks about his photography, his passion for lions and his wildlife conservation work with The Born Free Foundation.
His new book, Lion: Pride Before the Fall presents an extraordinary collection of wild lion photography with a clear, vital message – help protect Africa’s last wild lions, or risk losing them forever.
The lion is Africa’s signature wild animal, yet it has vanished from 90% of its historic range. They have no natural predators in the wild, yet we are losing them at the rate of two per day. Unbelievably, lions are currently on course to be extinct in the wild by 2050.
Uniquely for a wildlife book, George collaborated with creative teams at some of London's top agencies, to produce powerful, challenging imagery which confronts and highlights the threats that the last remaining lions still face, such as habitat-loss, canned hunting, trophy hunting, human-wildlife conflict and the real possibility of extinction.

Her more recent study on votive offering, taking her to France, Ireland and Poland, ties in with her continued interest into places of spiritual worship and pilgrimage. The study resulted in the publication Ex-Veto and is also extending to a feature length film called Vera, based around the life of one of the Orthodox nuns. More recently shooting on large format and B&W, her mesmerising imagery focuses on the players, landscapes and the interwoven faith in between.

© Felicity Crawshaw. AOP Photography Awards 2020, Environment.
AOP Accredited Photographer and Assisting Photographer members only
It's been a challenging year for many of us in photography, where our opportunities for contact and the primarily face-to-face nature of our industry have been compromised so much with the result that we've all had to dive deep into tele-conferencing.
To help remind us that we're all in the photographic community together, we're hosting a short series of 'speed-dating' events for our Accredited and Assisting Photographers, where you'll be able to see some new faces and make some new and hopefully lasting connections.
Hosted on Zoom, all Photographer participants will have 5 minutes to chat with an Assisting Photographer participant, after which we'll pair everyone up with a new 'partner'.
Places are limited to 10 Photographers, and 10 Assisting Photographers.
We'll be running several of these sessions over the next few weeks. Places are allocated on a first-come first-served basis, and we'll contact you if you're successful. If this event becomes fully booked, please keep an eye out for the next dates (TBA soon).

Kim Pappas, Process Agency
I've been an agent and running my agency Process for the last 20 years. I've been fortunate to rep some amazing talents.
I love the challenge of not only driving my own business but in collaborating with and getting to know our photographers and staff. I'm super proud and passionate about the agency and really hope that we can pull through this very difficult challenging and unprecedented time.
During lockdown my colleague Emma Hayes and I organised The Print Assembly a charity initiative to raise funds for Refuge who support victims of domestic abuse. We rallied our friends in the industry and persuaded 102 photographers to donate their work. It was a small seed of an idea that grew and grew and with the wonderful generous support of the photographic community we’re thrilled to have raised 90k for Refuge. I thoroughly enjoyed curating the stunning collection of work and developing the idea collaboratively with Emma, Studio Thomson and MPrint.
I'm looking forward to moving things on and seeing how we’ll develop and grow in coming months.

Documentary Photography Reconsidered - 30 June 2020
Join Michelle Bogre, Stephen Mayes, Nina Berman, Ed Kashi and Paul Wenham-Clarke who will present work and then discuss how we should be reconsidering documentary photography during a time when it is undergoing unprecedented transformation, but is more relevant than ever. Followed by your questions to the panel.
Although critics have written its obituary many times, documentary photography is not dead. In fact, it is more relevant today as photographers document this historic pandemic. Documentary photography thrives as a genre in part because digital technology has rendered it a more democratic medium. However, that same technology has profoundly changed the nature of the image, and documentary photography faces serious challenges as we confront the profound difference between a documentary photograph that is fixed, and one that is an unmoored, malleable, package of data. The new digital documentary image looks like a photograph, but it isn’t a photograph. Or is it? This panel will reflect on the medium at this moment of transition. Panelists: Stephen Mayes, Paul Wenham-Clarke, Nina Berman and Ed Kashi, who were featured in the book, Documentary Photography Reconsidered: History, Theory and Practice and author Michelle Bogre, who will moderate the discussion.
Nina Berman is an award winning documentary photographer, filmmaker, author and educator. Her wide-ranging work looks at American politics, militarism, environmental contamination and post violence trauma. Her photographs and videos have been exhibited at more than 100 venues from the security walls of the Za'atari refugee camp to the Whitney Museum of American Art. She is the author of Purple Hearts – Back from Iraq, (2004) portraits and interviews with wounded American veterans, Homeland, (2008) a look at the militarization in post September 11 America, and most recently, An autobiography of Miss Wish (2017) a story told with a survivor of sexual violence which was shortlisted for both the Aperture and Arles book prizes. She is a member of the photography and film collective NOOR images and a professor at Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism where she directs the photography program. www.ninaberman.com
Michelle Bogre is a documentary photographer, author, educator and copyright lawyer. Her writing revolves around the intersections of memory and history and how the documentary photograph will function in the 21st century. She has written several books, including Photography as Activism: Images for Social Change and Documentary Photography Reconsidered: Theory, History and Practice. She is currently working on a long form documentary project on family farms in America. She is a Professor Emerita, Parsons School of Design where she taught advanced photography seminars, documentary photography and copyright. www.michellebogre.com
Ed Kashi, a member of VII Photo Agency, is an award winning photojournalist, filmmaker, speaker and educator. His restless creativity has continually placed him at the forefront of new approaches to visual storytelling, from his Iraqi Kurdistan Flipbook in 2006, to paradigm shifting coverage of Hurricane Sandy for TIME in 2012, Kashi continues to create compelling imagery and engage with the world in new ways. He also has produced a number of influential short films and earned recognition by the POYi Awards as 2015’s Multimedia Photographer of the Year. In 2002, Kashi in partnership with his wife, writer + filmmaker Julie Winokur, founded the non- profit, Talking Eyes Media, which has produced numerous award-winning short films, exhibits, books, and multimedia pieces that explore significant social issues. www.edkashi.com
Stephen Mayes is Executive Director of the Tim Hetherington Trust and an active board member of www.Catchlight.io. Across twenty-five years he has managed the work and careers of top-level photographers and artists in the diverse areas of art, fashion, photojournalism and commercial photography. As creative director and as CEO he has written successful business plans and reshaped operations for American, Asian and European imaging companies. Stephen acted as secretary to the World Press Photo competition 2004-2012. Often described as a “futurist” Stephen has broadcast, taught and written extensively about the ethics and practice of photography. www.stephenmayes.co
Paul Wenham-Clarke began his career as an advertising photographer, a practice he now applies to documentary subjects creating a hybrid approach. Some of his award winning images make uneasy viewing, whilst others draw the eye with a surface beauty, but they all contain an underlying message that questions our very way of living. His work has been exhibited at The National Portrait Gallery, The Victoria & Albert Museum, Somerset House and St Martin-in-the Fields Gallery and has been featured on the BBC2 Culture Show. Paul is a Professor of Photography and the MA Course Leader at Arts University Bournemouth. https://www.wenhamclarke.com

Our Voices
We are all looking to find our visual 'voice' but it is important to be able to vocally express ourselves. However, most of us experience being unable to articulate what we wanted to say and being crippled by nerves.
Instead of hiding behind our cameras we could extend our marketing by speaking to a niche zoom group, on a podcast, the larger public or even the press. The power of our words and their resonance can influence others, but also our perception of ourselves.
In these times of multifaceted careers member Stella Scordellis is collaborating with professional public speaker Helen Pointer to widen her offering and will talk about this and how we could all benefit from confident speaking in public.
There will be time for an open Q&A at the end.
Helen Pointer gave up a high profile job in the NHS over 10 years ago to pursue the new, unpredictable scary and exciting world of art, fulfilling a lifelong ambition. Her art took her around the world as a public speaker, educating and entertaining passenger onboard luxury liners. Combining her teaching experience within the NHS and her creative skills, Helen teaches others how to gain confidence and enjoyment in the ability to speak in front of an audience without feeling daunted.
Stella Scordellis, a photographer for over 30 years moved on from her high street studio last summer after 23 years, to free her from the restraints of the town and to explore other opportunities; namely to overcome her fear of public speaking and to have the freedom to see more of the world. With the guidance and direction of long time friend Helen she was able to achieve this. Stella recently returned from her first commission in March having given 7 different presentations in 10 days, no mean feat. Because of this experience, Stella is setting up an agency with Helen to gain public speaking commissions and to teach others how to feel comfortable speaking in front of others and most importantly to enjoy it.

Productivity for Photographers - 27 May 2020
Date & Time: Wednesday 27 May 11:00-12:00
Location: Conducted over Zoom
AOP Member and Photographer Emma Tunbridge will be interviewed by Rachel Rogers AOP’s Marketing Manager as Emma demonstrates how she maximises her productivity. This talk is for those that are either frustratingly time poor - perhaps juggling working from home with home schooling, or those with too much time on their hands but feel overwhelmed with a to do list that has been languishing on notepads for the last 20 years.
This talk will cover different ways you can get your photography to-do lists done, quickly and fuss free. From getting your computer organised so that your archive is quickly accessible from anywhere, adopting quick methods of organising files that will save you hours every month, using google docs to quickly raise pitch documents, and scheduling social media posts so you aren’t tied to your computer every day. There are so many ways to go about your business admin - and it’s easy to get a bit bogged down by all the options out there. Emma will be looking to simplify some of these tasks by covering the software and structure that she uses on a daily basis to get that to-do list done quickly and efficiently allowing her more time to be creative.
Bio: Emma Tunbridge is a fashion and advertising photographer specialising in Babies and Children. Born in Brighton and she moved to London in 2006 to become a Digital Operator and Retoucher, now a photographer she is hoping to share some time saving tips she has learnt along the way.

Mindfulness is good for you, whoever you are…but it might be especially good for you if you are a creative.
In this introduction to mindfulness, former photo professional and mindfulness coach Adele Rider maps the benefits of mindful meditation for photographers and creatives.
It will introduce key basic principles that aim to enhance wellbeing and relaxation, helping to cope with stress and pressure, and to sharpen mental focus and aid creativity. And it will demonstrate the first steps to using meditative practice in daily life providing advice and tips to start meditating at home and in the work place.
"Creatives, including photographers, are often really trapped within their own heads, they rely on creativity and ideas in their jobs, but they are not resources that you can turn on and off. People suffer from anxiety and self worth issues. Mindfulness offers a way to quieten those issues and to focus on what matters in every aspect of your life."
The class is suitable both for those new to meditation, for whom it will provide a grounding in key elements plus some simple techniques to take away and practise at home, and for those with some experience of the practise who would like to refresh their understanding.
Adele Rider has had a diverse career, working successfully in fashion and publishing and for twenty plus years working as a photographic agent in London.
In that time her company, Shoot Production, represented and marketed the talents of around 50 photographers – not all at once of course – working in all the varied realms of advertising and editorial. She also worked as an independent producer organising shoots for a range of clients including Sky TV.
Adele found mindfulness about seven years ago, when she began to explore it as a way of dealing with the stress and strain of business life. "The more I learned about the practice of mindful meditation," she says, "the more impressed I became by its power to bring calmness and balance back into life and help me to process issues in a relaxed and positive way."
In 2017 Adele closed her company, moved out of London and began to train as a mindfulness teacher. Although she still works as a freelance producer, she is now also a Breathworks accredited mindfulness teacher and runs various types of mindfulness groups and events.

Jillian Edelstein and Clare Park In Conversation with Zelda Cheatle
Award- winning photographers Jillian Edelstein and Clare Park both chronicle personal narratives of family, displacement and loss alongside their work as portraitists.
When selecting the images for our 50th birthday celebration exhibition, AOP50 at One Canada Square, curator Zelda Cheatle chose Jillian’s portrait of Nelson Mandela and Clare’s self-portrait The Beauty Myth as iconic photographs from the past 50 years.
Continuing with these celebrations we are pleased to announce that Jillian and Clare have agreed to share this series of talks by AOP photographers.
Zelda Cheatle explore with Jillian and Clare how early societal experiences, career choices and personal inspirations have defined their individual vision and how their methodologies connecting life and work have fascinating similarities, yet striking differences.
Both women are represented in the National Portrait Gallery, the V&A RPS and Incite Project permanent collections. Jillian was included in the Hundred Heroines RPS list December 2018 and both are currently part of the 209 Women exhibition.

What will I learn from the talk?
The focus will be on the mindset behind the working for free attitude and what can be done to change the mind frame of clients and freelancers who accept it. Real world (and very diverse) scenarios will be examined and discussed, and what consequences they had for everyone involved.
The talk will give you practical solutions on how to turn working for free requests into actual paid work, with a very high success rate.
What will you cover?
A brief and quite surprising historical background of working for free culture, we surely can learn from history even in this case.
What constitutes working for free (not as obvious as most of us might think)
The different and quite often sneaky ways that work for free culture is finding to undermine paid work.
Analysis of several ‘working for free’ requests that truly happened at different levels and how they penned out.
How social media has changed (in good and bad ways) the working for free culture.
How to spot a good opportunity even if not so obvious to start with.
Ways of answering 'work for free' requests and how to turn some into actual paid jobs.
…and much more!
“There were some deep insights and some funny moments during this talk, Sir Franz Pagot has been involved in fighting working for free attitude for many years in the film industry and he has managed to obtain some amazing results for colleagues in many situations where unpaid work was exploited. It is a fun and at the same time very practical talk, that will leave you with a very positive attitude and even searching for unpaid work knowing now how you can turn the odds to your advantage as well as making people change their mind.”

Award winning AOP member Simon Norfolk is a landscape photographer whose work over twenty years has been themed around a probing and stretching of the meaning of the word 'battlefield' in all its forms. As such, he has photographed in some of the world's worst war-zones and refugee crises, but is equally at home photographing supercomputers used to design military systems or the test-launching of nuclear missiles.
When selecting the images for our 50th birthday celebration exhibition; AOP50 at One Canada Square, curator Zelda Cheatle chose Simon's haunting visualisation of the receding Lewis Glacier on Mt. Kenya as one of our 50 images on display.
Continuing our birthday celebrations we are please to announce that Simon has agreed to take the first in an occasional series of talks by AOP photographers about their work, inspirations and the developments within our industry that have helped form their body of work.
"Ill be talking about the strange space I occupy as a practitioners somewhere between the commercial and fine art. There aren't many photographers that have had a solo show at Tate Modern and also shoot cover stories for National Geographic; that have 140k on Instagram and are collected by the Getty in Los Angeles." Simon Norfolk
The talk in presented in partnership with The Sir John Cass School of Art, Architecture and Design, London Metropolitan University.
Simon Norfolk has won The Discovery Prize at Les Rencontres d'Arles in 2005; The Infinity Prize from The International Center of Photography in 2004; and he was winner of the European Publishing Award, 2002 and multiple World Press Photo and Sony World Photography awards.
His work is held in major collections such as The Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, The Getty in Los Angeles as well as San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Wilson Centre for Photography and the Sir Elton John Collection. His work has been shown widely and internationally from Brighton to Ulaanbaatar and in 2011 his 'Burke + Norfolk' work was one of the first ever photography solo shows at Tate Modern in London.

The UK’s creative industries are a global success story, particularly in the arena of image-making, advertising and marketing. We lead the way in creating not only inspirational, but successful, global advertising campaigns for many of the best-known brands.
In a global market, clients' requirements change and as a result so do commissions. From the increasingly familiar request ‘to make it move’ to the shift in licensing patterns towards copyright buyouts, our industry is changing.
Commissioners and creators rely on each other and a successful commission (in terms of both process and product) – is truly joyful. However, even the best-laid plans can sometimes go awry.
The Association of Photographers and the Association of Illustrators invite illustrators and photographers, commissions and clients, to come together to look at how we can ensure a vibrant, thriving future for all of us.
In this session, our guest Lu Howlett, Head of Art & Photographic at Iris Worldwide iris-worldwide.com, Daniel Moorey, Head of Photography and Illustration at adamandeveDDB, adamandeveddb.com, Mat Wiggins, Group Art Director at Ink Global, Ink-global.com, Alicia Hart, photo editor, art buyer, creative producer, reviewerand visual artist and Jon Cockley, co-founder of Handsome Frank www.handsomefrank.com will join AOP and AOI business and legal advisers,Nick Dunmur and Derek Brazell. Also on hand will be Ren Renwick, Managing Director AOI and Seamus McGibbon, Executive Director AOP (other panelists to be confirmed, please check back).
What elements make up a good commission and successful result?
What makes a good creator and creative process for that commission?
Where and why do things come unstuck?
What are the fair terms, licence agreements and remuneration for that work?
Following the discussion there will be an opportunity to mingle with colleagues.
Places are strictly limited

2018 will be a special year for us as we celebrate our 50th Anniversary. What better way to mark such an important milestone than to present a retrospective of our members' most iconic images at a public exhibition at one of the UK's leading locations?!
To recognise this important milestone, this exhibition, curated by Zelda Cheatle, presents a collection of images that define 50 years of the AOP, selected to illustrate the impact, diversity and quality of work by its members since 1968, who have included David Bailey, Lord Snowdon, Barry Lategan, Patrick Lichfield, Giles Duley and Nadav Kander. Their work will have been seen by the public the world over, from iconic images of celebrities and stars like Twiggy, in major advertising campaigns and countless car manufacturers, as well as documenting some of the world’s turning points, including wars, famine and humanitarian disasters. Many of their images have defined a generation, and helped to shape public opinion and create change.

About Our One to One Hosts
Amit and Naroop - Born and raised in West London, photography duo Amit Amin and Naroop Jhooti got together in 2005, when a mutual friend, an aspiring music artist, needed a press shoot. The chemistry was instant. From that first shoot, they teamed up as creative partners and Amit and Naroop Photography was formed. The duo continued working within the music industry, developing their own distinct, intense visual style and honing their craft. Over the last thirteen years, they have continued to broaden their horizons and their work has expanded to embrace advertising and portraiture, all interpreted with their characteristic passion and style.
Emma Taylor, Creative Advice Network - Being any kind of a creative is truly fantastic. But we understand that just because it’s the best job doesn’t mean it’s an easy job. So if you’re Photographer, Art Director or any other kind of working creative and you’re in need of a bit of Creative Advice you can turn to us.
Nick Dunmur- Nick Dunmur is a professional photographer and has been all his working life. He is currently based just north of Nottingham and is involved in professional commercial and advertising commissions, including making small pieces of video/moving image for clients, and in producing personal photographic work for several environment-driven photographic print works. A large-scale body of work titled Edgelands, has already formed the basis of two exhibitions in the Midlands. Nick also works on an occasional basis as an associate lecturer on the BA (Hons) Photography course at the University of Derby.
He makes his own work and sells limited edition fine art photographic prints thorough his shop at Artfinder and also through his own dUNMUR | Printworks website. Until June 2013, Nick was a non-executive director of the Association of Photographers (AOP) and between October 2008 and January 2011 held the role of Chair. He is also one of the founding group of members of Pro Imaging, another trade body which protects the rights of professional photographers, and up until 2013, represented them on the board of the British Photographic Council.
Richard Seymour is a photographer specialising in automotive, aerospace and urban landscape photography often using advanced composite techniques and CG rendered elements. Over the past few years he’s also been directing films and TV commercials and is now expanding his portfolio into VR and AR.
As well as The AOP, Hall 5 at the NEC Birmingham will see over 250 brands including Canon, Nikon, Fujifilm, Olympus, Panasonic, Sony, Manfrotto, MAC Group, Profoto, Pixapro and Lowepro showcasing the latest gear for you to try and buy at great prices.

She will demystify some of the options available to maintain and expand your reach in the current complex environment, including expansion into areas such as motion, fine art, personal work, collaborations, or publishing your own book – all based on your own, highly developed point of view. Perfect for all levels.

12.30pm and 3.30pm Best business practice for photographers and the paperwork trail
This workshop is aimed at anyone who wishes to get a firm(er) grip on the paperwork requirements for running a professional photography business. Many photographers will already have their own approach to this, but it can be useful to have assumptions challenged and/or perceptions reinforced. In times where clients often expect more for less, it is important to know how to minimise your own exposure to any sort of risk as a result of not having good paperwork in place.

Amit & Naroop were born and raised in West London, photography duo Amit Amin and Naroop Jhooti got together in 2005, whilst Naroop was working in fashion and Amit was exploring the possibilities of being a professional photographer.
When a mutual friend, an aspiring music artist, needed a press shoot done, the two came together, working within their own fields of specialism. During the shoot they collaborated well, bouncing ideas off each other and producing some interesting images. The chemistry was instant. From that first shoot, they decided to team up as creative partners and Amit and Naroop Photography was formed.
The duo continued working within the music industry, developing their own distinct, intense visual style and honing their craft. They quickly built a name for themselves and began to get commissions from clients outside of the music industry.
Over the last ten years they have continued to broaden their horizons and their work has expanded to embrace advertising and portraiture, all interpreted with their characteristic passion and style. Their large and diverse portfolio of work includes iconic portraits of musicians and celebrities such as Tinie Tempah, Dynamo Magician and comedian Ricky Gervais, along with advertising campaigns for the likes of Barclays, MTV, Sunsilk and Huawei.
Their skill and vision speaks for itself and the images they have produced illustrate a fantastic eye for detail and depth of knowledge.
Having achieved a great deal of success in a relatively short period of time, they embrace the opportunity to share their experiences with others: “As two self-taught photographers, we came from nothing and made a name for ourselves. We find it very rewarding to inspire others to follow their creative aspirations and dream big”.

Julia Fullerton-Batten is an internationally acclaimed and exhibited fine art photographer. Her body of work now encompasses major projects spanning more than a decade of engagement in the genre. Her use of unusual locations, highly creative settings and street-cast models, accented with cinematic lighting, are hallmarks of her very distinctive style of photography. Using these tools and her strong creative talents she insinuates visual tensions into her images, and imbues them with a hint of mystery. They combine to provoke the viewer to re-examine the picture, each time seeing more content and finding a deeper meaning.
Julia’s fine art work now encompasses twelve major projects, which find enthusiasts worldwide and at both ends of the cultural spectrum, from casual viewers to connoisseurs of fine art photography. Her work is exhibited worldwide and reviewed constantly in professional magazines and the world’s press. Unseen London - an illustrated talk by Dazeley, 28 January 2015
Unseen London - an illustrated talk by Dazeley
Wednesday 28th January 2015, 6:30pm. Parsons Green, London
Unseen London is one of this year’s most beautiful books, with photographs by AOP member Dazeley. This illustrated talk is a unique opportunity for you to be taken backstage at some of the capital’s great theatres, into the changing rooms of some of our greatest temples of sport, into the heart of the Establishment, the boiler room of the city’s infrastructure, and behind the scenes at some of the most opulent buildings in the Square Mile.
Unseen London includes fascinating interiors of fifty iconic London buildings. Dazeley’s aim during this long journey of discovery was to record hidden London, as it stands in the twenty-first century, for future generations. Many photographs in this book will be the last record of a disappearing world.
Dazeley has kindly agreed to give the talk in his own studio in Fulham. He will discuss his photographs of these buildings - some derelict, but many still working; each is described in the book with a thoughtful text by Mark Daly, which tells the story of how each of these places was created and how they are used. The locations for Unseen London were photographed over a period of four years; for Dazeley, as a photographer, it was a joy to be able to share images of his wonderful city.
Tickets cost £5 each and are strictly limited; this price covers the cost of refreshments.

Beth Taubner
Founder of Brooklyn and London-based Mercurylab, Beth Taubner has been a Brand Strategist and Creative Director working with strategy and creative
communications for over twenty years. Beth has developed a proprietary approach to branding, using a combination of psychological, visual and analytic processes. She works closely on brand identification, language communications, creative direction, portfolio and visual development and marketing with some of the top photographers and artist representatives in the world.
In her seminar, “The Psychology of Brand Building,” Beth will define what it is to be a brand, and use examples from well-known brands, artists, and photographers to help you understand how to define and manage your own brand. Learning how to communicate and operate as a brand takes the guesswork and reactivity out of your career, helping you to approach your communications and marketing in a strategic and tactical way that will help clients to understand why to hire you rather than another. Beth will provide some practical tools to help you immediately begin to discover and define your own brand, so that you can apply it to all of your marketing for greater visibility and success. Perfect for photographers at any level and for professionals in related fields.
As a ‘veteran’ of three shootNYC seminars since 2011, Brooklyn and London based Beth is a popular speaker at many US and UK events and is excited at making her debut appearance at shootLDN in conjunction with the Association of Photographers. Beth will also be providing portfolio reviews on behalf of the AOP during the event.
Paul J Harvey
Paul specialises in car, landscape and CGI photography, and has been shooting global advertising campaigns for over 10 years.
Educated at Plymouth College of Art in the late 1980’s, his first job in the industry was at Paulo studios, on Portobello Road in 1990. Subsequently, whilst working as a freelance assistant, Paul started to gain wider experience shooting editorial commissions for the Haymarket Publishing Group.
The ‘city of light’ beckoned and by the late 90’s he took the opportunity to work for Vincent Dixon in Paris. Commerce skills were developed and in 2000 Paul set up his own advertising business, shooting a first campaign for Mercedes.
Based in Paris for 12 years, he became fluent in French during his cultural adventure there. However, new challenges emerged back home and in 2013 he returned to London.
Paul has since become a 3D/CGI partner at Taylor James and is also a long serving member of the NUJ. His traditionally photographed landscape works are also regularly displayed at galleries in both London and Paris.

David Partner
David studied at Winchester School of Art before working as a photographer’s assistant in Paris, then as a portrait photographer in London.
Following the publication of his first picture for the Sunday Times Magazine, David worked as a commercial photographer specialising in Industrial subjects, Planes, Trains, Power Stations, Cars etc, where he developed a more fine art based approach to the large objects, usually on large format film.
A project to photograph members of the Labour Government, which he devised himself, led to him being offered a solo exhibition of his political portraits at the National Portrait Gallery in London, “Heads of Government”.
He received the first major photographic commission from the House of Commons, “Working for Parliament”, to photograph 100 members of the staff of the House of Commons, public servants and officials who, whilst remaining unseen, facilitate the smooth operation of what was described by Winston Churchill as “The Cockpit of Democracy”. He has since undertaken other similar projects, both public and commercial, photographing groups of people both in their workplace and elsewhere, as well as photographing architecture and more elemental work.
He is currently working towards an exhibition of the new buildings of Beirut arising out of the ruins of the Lebanese civil war for the Beirut Art Center. Working with one of the major Lebanese Banks, and other commercial organisations, towards achieving what will be a major exhibition, and showcase for Lebanon’s successful regeneration in 2015. He is also working towards an exhibition of portraits of Chinese youth for exhibition in Shanghai during 2015.
He has been a member of the Association of Photographers for many years and is currently a director. He speaks and writes about photography in the media, print and broadcast, as well as judging competitions, lecturing students, reviewing portfolios and otherwise engaging with photographers and the general public.

Fields of Battle, Lands of Peace, 1914 -18, 12 September 2014
An evening talk with Mike Sheil
Friday 12th September, 6.30pm for 7.00pm start
Holborn Studios, Eagle Wharfe Road, London, N1 7ED
Arranged by Stephen Coe -
Like landscapes and unsure if you'd like battlefields? So was I until I spent a few minutes with Mike Sheil explaining his passion for these landscape subjects which are much changed from 1914-18. I must say Mike convinced me.
I would never have guessed how interesting this project became for him, and I think you too will find it fascinating. If you can join us for this special talk – the man himself will be telling how this vast project took over his life and even changed his career. It's a show celebrating the greater peace - beyond any war.
Mike will be returning from the actual battlefields for this AOP workshop/tour on Friday 12th September, join him to catch the spirit of the unusually poignant atmospheres of these historic landscapes now at peace. This talk is timed not to eat into your working week and I hope to see you there? Come in plenty of time from 6.30pm for a 7.00pm start, which is conveniently after the congestion charge, especially those driving in from out of town we'd like to see. Bring a friend - or drive in - with another member you may know of on the way.
SO, one for the diary - there can be no better way to experience this show - than with the creator - and maybe join some of us afterwards for a drink somewhere nearby.
